Raffaele De Grada in 1885 and died in 1957 in Milan is a contemporary Italian painter of the Novecento pictorial movement.
Son of the painter Antonio and Teresa Amelotti, with whom he went to Argentina in 1888 then to Switzerland in 1889, he helped his father with his decoration work. Between 1902 and 1905, he attended the academies of Dresden and Karlsruhe.
Around 1913, he moved to Zurich where he exhibited, he traveled frequently in Italy and there he met Magda Ceccarelli who became his wife in 1915. The following year his son Raffaele was born in Zurich.
He is interested in landscape painting, for which he seeks new solutions linked to nature and his state of mind.
In 1918 he decided to settle permanently in Italy. In 1920 he lived in San Gimignano where his daughter Lydie was born. He then leaves for Settignano near Florence.
His first Italian exhibition dates back to 1921 at the Palazzo Antinori in Florence, and it attracted the attention of critics and the Florentine artistic community.
In 1922 he moved to Giramenti, near Arcetri, the same year he participated in the Venice Biennale where he returned in the following years.
In 1926 he participated in the first exhibition of the Novecento (pictorial movement) in Milan. In 1928 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale. In 1929 he took part in the second Novecento exhibition at the Permanente in Milan.
In 1929 he moved to Milan and in 1931 he was called to teach at the ISIA in Monza.
He continues to dedicate himself to the landscape. That of the Milanese surroundings, Brianza and Tuscany, confronting the painting of Corot and Cezanne.

Fils du peintre Antonio et de Teresa Amelotti, avec qui il se rend en Argentine en 1888 puis en Suisse en 1889, il aide son père dans ses travaux de décoration. Entre 1902 et 1905, il fréquente les académies de Dresde et de Karlsruhe.
Vers 1913, il s'installe à Zurich où il expose, il voyage souvent en Italie et y rencontre Magda Ceccarelli qui devient son épouse en 1915. L'année suivante, son fils Raffaele naît à Zurich.
Il s'intéresse à la peinture de paysage, pour laquelle il cherche de nouvelles solutions liées à la nature et à son état d'esprit.
En 1918, il décide de s'installer définitivement en Italie. En 1920, il vit à San Gimignano où naît sa fille Lydie. Il part ensuite pour Settignano, près de Florence.
Sa première exposition italienne date de 1921 au Palazzo Antinori à Florence, et elle attire l'attention des critiques et de la communauté artistique florentine.

Il continue à se consacrer au paysage. Celui des environs de Milan, de la Brianza et de la Toscane, confronté à la peinture de Corot et de Cézanne.
