Savona. For style and workmanship, it could refer directly to the founder, Bartolomeo ROSSI MARCA C.A.S. (Savona) (Bartolomeo Rossi & sons) Founded by Bartolomeo Rossi in 1919, 'Bartolomeo Rossi & sons' in the workshops in via Piave 6 in Savona (already owned by the terracotta pipe manufacturer Francesco Ferro) produces terracotta pipes and toys. Around 1927, in the wake of the success achieved by the Albisola artistic ceramic factories, Bartolomeo Rossi changed the company name to 'C.A.S.' (Savonese Artistic Ceramics) and began an interesting production of artistic ceramics inspired by new Art Deco shapes and decorations, alongside a more typically Albisola style production. In 1928 he presented his production at the Permanent Exhibition of Artisans in Savona and in the same year the company opened a branch in Finalmarina. In the 1930s the factory also availed itself of the collaboration of the Futurist magistrate and ceramist Giovanni Acquaviva, who in those years collaborated with various factories in Albisola including the 'M.G.A.' owned by the Mazzotti family, collaboration thanks to which the 'C.A.S.' enriches its production, generally in majolica terracotta, with new shapes and decorations inspired by the new futurist styles. In the same years Ivos Pacetti and Nino Strada also collaborated with the company. In 1937, Bartolomeo Rossi's children, Emilia, Angelica (formerly the company's decorator) and Antonio became co-owners of the factory. In 1938 the factory exhibited some ceramics at the Albisola Ceramics Exhibition held in Rome. In 1939 Antonio died and his father Bartolomeo retired from business, leaving his daughter Angelica in charge of the family business, who kept the company active until November 1950. In 1955 Wifredo Lam created some works which he cooked in the factory's pits. In the following years the company was sold to Giuseppe Pinelli, already artistic director of the factory in the second half of the 1950s, who in turn entrusted the artistic direction to Caterina Moliardo.
